Solar Energy Science and Policy

Our names are Jadrian and Hailey, and we are students from the University of Kansas taking part in a course on Science and Policy (PHSX 420). For our semester project, we were asked to locate a particular scientific topic in which we felt passionate about and work to advance its progress through policy change. We have chosen our focus to be on Kansas solar policy and ways to promote participation in solar systems. Our research efforts were divided, in that Hailey specialized on residential solar systems and Jadrian emphasized on community solar. With our combined information, we were able to construct a ‘compare and contrast’ of these two solar energy setups that can be used to interpret the better option to prioritize in policy change. Possible policy improvements for both community and residential solar in Kansas have also been provided, as well as how you can help us see change.
